Work comment

This suite was originally composed for piano in Marstrand in the summer of 1871. Hägg performed it in the Tonkünstlerverein in Dresden on 8 January 1872. (His Sonata for violoncello was premiered at the same concert.) Wilhelm Stenhammar performed the suite in spring 1896.
The version for orchestra came much later, in the autograph the scherzo is dated 18 February 1916
