Work comment
According to van Boer, the copyist, Fredrik Samuel Silverstolpe has made an annotation on the back of Symfoni C-dur [Symphony in C major] (VB 138) stating that formerly, there was a symphony by Kraus in the music library of the Royal Theatre, set for 2 violins, viola, 2 oboes, flute, 2 French horns and bass parts. After investigations by the Theatre's manager, Wetterstrand, it is hereby certified that this Symphony, as well as works by other composers, which were bound together with Kraus's symphony, were consumed by flames in the fire in November, 1825. There might exist a transcripton of this symphony in some private collection.
