Libretto/text

Det guddomelige Lys

O du rene Glands for Aandens Öie!
over Dagens trange Scene,
over alle solbelyste Höie
hæver du mig, du alene.

Dybest inde i mit Tungsinds Gange
kunde du mit Hjerte finde.
Som en frikjendt, lysbegærlig Fange
saae jeg dig, min Sol oprinde.

Morgenröde for mit Mulm hernede,
du, der skinner blandt de Döde!
Elskte Sjæle, som i Sorg gik heden,
förte du mig, mildt imöde.

Mismods Klage skal som Taage lettes;
op mod Lyset, vil jeg drage
og for Smerter, som kan ei forgjettes
bringe Dulmelse tilbage.
