Jacob Nyvall (1894−1961)

Jacob Nyvall was born on 23 July 1894 in Nybro, Madesjö parish and died on 1 July 1961 in Stockholm. He obtained degrees in organ performance, music teaching and as precentor from the the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stockholm, and studied composition and counterpoint with Ernst Ellberg and Andreas Hallén. From 1920 until his retirement in 1959 he was organist at Solna Church and singing teacher at elementary schools in Solna. Nyvall wrote music primarily for use in church: solo songs, choral works and organ music. He was also a music journalist.
