The Bolero was originally intended as no. 1 of a "Suite méridionale" [also called "Spansk serenad" (Spanish Serenade] (no. 2 = Cantilena, and no. 3 = Tarantella, of which there only exists a violin part in autograph at the Musik- och teaterbiblioteket) [according to Henrik Karlsson's list of compositions by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (2004)]
