Work comment

This song also exists in a setting for male choir a cappella (T.T.B.B.). See separate post for that version.

According to Hirsch's edition of the version for male choir a cappella, the song is about the battle of Lena (now Kungslena) in Västergötland (a province in Sweden), in 1208. The original text, which has been somewhat altered by the composer, means approx. "This is what happened at Lena: two Danes on the run got beaten on their behinds by the Swedes".
