Work comment
The magazine offers the following introduction:
A Swedish girl, ten years of age, has composed a melody to the lyrics of Topielius's lovely greeting from the "Fattiga Barn i Finland" [the impoverished children in Finland], which, by means of 'Linnea' has been presented to the children of Sweden.
These simple tones are thus a thank you from the children of Sweden to the children of Finland, and to their guardians. Finland is dear to us, it is the land of remembrance, it is the homeland of Franzén, Runeberg and Topelius [referring to Frans Michael Franzén (1772-1847), Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804-1877), and Zacharias Topelius (1818-1898)], and consequently precious to everyone who loves the memories of Sweden and the language of the Swedes.
